Discuss anything here. The coffee's always hot!

Select a slogan for the CPO license plate, since we can no longer be "Initiated and Proud"

New wording needed for CPO License Plate [POLL]

Postby krnl on 28 Jun 2010, 08:53

So, it has come to my attention that the words "Initiated and Proud" would not be a good choice of words any longer since new CPO's are no longer "Initiated". So, we must decide on a new slogan to place below the "Chief Petty Officer" at the bottom of the plate.

Please vote in the attached poll!

I'll have to go with Navy Chief, Navy Pride, although I do consider myself to have been initiated and PROUD of it. Politics is getting ridiculous at best. Fred

I have to agree with you Fred. Worst part about it is that it's not just the Navy - it's the whole country. :coffee:

That's the truth.
What about "Succeeding in Spite of Politics Since 1893"?

I vote for "Ask the Chief" because at least it's in the CPO Creed. Or do they even read that anymore!!

Rick,

I for one am proud to say I am initiated. With this kinder, gentler PC crap we will soon pat them on the a$$ and take them to get a Dairy Queen, and call them inducted (or whatever non-invasive term the next MCPON will dream up). Last I checked dough boys were inducted into the Army. I fear you will lose some support by removing initiated from the plate. However, the one constant in the creed is "Ask the Chief". So if you must remove what really happened, then Ask the Chief would be appropriate.

Rick,
If I could revote, Jim and the gang would be correct. "Ask the Chief" has been in stone forever. I won't pull out from the plate, but I was interested in the beginning because of where It came from. The pride I still feel when I'm talking to my retired brothers and sisters about our initiation.... overwhelming........

Just to add another twist to the wording. I just went to a senior leadership gradustion for the US Army. My son graduates the Advanced Leadership course the other day. Their NCO creed uses the Backbone of the Army in their creed. To stay focused on what the real issue is..."Ask the Chief".
